There were many independence movements which took place in the post-WW II world. India, for example, finally achieved its independence from Great Britain by 1948 (see Imperialism unit for this). Other examples include independence of African nations many of which achieve this by the mid-1960s. Our focus will be Vietnam's war of independence from French control, and later from the United States influence in South Vietnam.
